Estate Agents...

Got to be nice for now, just in case!

At first we instructed the agents who originally sold the house to us. They were very proactive then.

It turns out, however, that all the original staff had left, even the directors had gone.

So, after 6 weeks, about 10 viewings and absolutely no feed back at all, we ended their instruction and instructed another local agent.

This new agent seemed very proactive and so confident that they even gave themselves a dead line of 8 weeks!

We got new, professional, photos done (at our expense, though we would get this back if we sold through the new agents), a good listing on Right Move and some good local advertising.

So far we have had about 20 more viewings, and lots of different feedback. I swear some members of the public are too stupid to be allowed to walk the streets.

If you don't like the location don't view the house and please read the details before you view, "not enough bedrooms", "house is too big", what a waste of everyone's time.

Okay rant over, sorry.

When did it all start?

HIP applied for at the beginning of May 2010. So that's pretty much the beginning.

What a waste of time and money the HIP was.

The Initial Decision

Or why move?

Friends and family (and estate agents) think we're mad to move. "It's such a great house", "It's perfect for your young family", etc.

So here are the reasons, in no particular order : -

  • Daughters School, she didn't get any on her list (or our list for that matter)
  • Financial - Reduce the mortgage, free up some of the equity
  • Move to a more rural area, larger garden, possible village community vibe
  • Get a mid-life crisis car :)
  • Bored of the area, frustrated with the attitude of the local populous
  • New project, put our mark on a new house
